Emmy Awards 2016 in one word? Memorable! It was expected, but still makes the news: after the crazy audience numbers of the last season, Game of Thrones breaks another record becoming the most awarded fictional series of all times, with a total of 38 awards. It now menaces the overall record of 44 emmys, still held by Saturday Night Live.
Emmy 2016 have been very gratifying for the HBO show: winner in 12 categories, most important of all for Outstanding Drama Series, but also, among the others, for costumes, editing, production design, sound mixing and special visual effects.
Surprises weren’t missing anyway: very good results for The People vs OJ Simpson (Outstanding Limited Serie, Outstanding lead actor and Outstanding lead actress in a limited series or movie for Courtney B Vance and Sarah Paulson), Veep (Outstanding Comedy Serie) and Sherlock: The Abominable Bride (Best Television Movie).
Rami Malek (Mr. Robot) won the prize for Outstanding Lead Actor in a drama series.
Only one good news for Game of Thrones competitors: HBO decided to start the seventh season on summer 2017, so the show won’t be eligible for the next years’ Emmys.
Will they be struggled… or just boring?
